Throw pillows are wonderful things. The extra cushion on your sofa or bed are just light hanging curtains. They bring that feeling of home. Because I love to decorate and redecorate and change things around, I quickly discovered the secret to cheap throw pillows. Two words: pillow covers. By keeping the same pillow insert, you can easily amass a collection of pillow covers for every season and holiday you like without spending a fortune. In the past year or so, I’ve been collecting lovely feather pillow inserts from IKEA. At $6 an insert, you can’t really beat that. They’re very comfortable and they fluff up nicely after I’ve had a couch full of video gaming guys.
All my lovely covers come from a few different places. First, there is my beloved IKEA. They have some nice basic covers as well as fun patterns. All of them are extremely affordable and I have several pairs in several kinds.
H&M is another great place to find cushion covers. They roll through their styles pretty quickly (the green geometric cover above is an old pattern) so if you find one you really like, don’t wait to order it. They also get some great holiday covers!
This year was the first time I’d bought pillow covers from Amazon, but I was on the hunt for this particular pattern and I’m quite happy with what I got! Amazon has me pleasantly surprised with their farmhouse decor lately so I know I will be buying covers from them again.
Have you ever been to HomeGoods? It’s a decorators paradise. While some of their throw pillows are a little overpriced for my own wallet, you can find some good deals. I bought a set of two of the frilly ones above and since they have zippers, I’ll be able to change out the covers if I ever want to.
Okay, now it’s your turn. Where is your favorite place to buy throw pillows/covers?
