What We’re Eating

Raise your hand if you weren’t quite ready for Monday. *raises hand* This weekend was pretty stellar with lots of coffee and Downton Abbey and family hangs. My tomatoes have slowed down with the cooler weather and I’m okay with that. Any more and I’m gonna have to start canning for reals! I do have lots of garden ideas for next year including expanding to from four raised beds to two, plus some serious landscaping makeover plans. (Brownie points to my bro-in-law for helping me draft my plan!) And I’m determined that next year, I am going to learn to can myself. Because I want to eat homemade strawberry jam in January! Now that I’ve told you, I have to, right?

The week ahead is pretty nutso for me. There is lots of work to be done, projects and otherwise, and I find out tonight if I’m serving jury duty tomorrow. We’re celebrating our fifth anniversary (OMG!!!!) on Friday and we’re heading out for a long weekend in Chicago with our family there to mark the occasion. That means laundry and packing amidst all the other duties. So I tried to make this menu as easy peasy as possible, complete with mashed potatoes from a bag. Don’t judge.

Monday: French Toast
Tuesday: In The Pantry
Wednesday: Jerk Chicken and Mashed Potatoes
Thursday: Brats and S’mores over a bonfire
Friday: Out to dinner for our anniversary!
