Before and afters are just the best, aren’t they? Especially when it’s your own house! Last year our big project was combining our parlor and living room and golly is it different! Here is a couple pictures I took just a few days after we got the keys in the spring of 2014.
After a lot of hard work, here’s what it looks like today!
(n.) a place of safety
“There is nothing like staying at home for real comfort.”
~ Jane Austen
“Stay, stay at home, my heart, and rest; Home-keeping hearts are happiest.”
~ Henry W. Longfellow
“I believe that a godly home is a foretaste of heaven. Our homes, imperfect as they are, must be a haven from the chaos outside. They should be a reflection of our eternal home, where troubled souls find peace, weary hearts find rest, hungry bodies find refreshment, lonely pilgrims find communion, and wounded spirits find compassion.”
~ Jani Ortlund
“Dwelling is not primarily inhabiting but taking care of and creating that space within which something comes into its own and flourishes.”
~ Martin Heidegger
Dearest Carl spent a long time sanding and refinishing these floors and they are the crowning glory of the space. I’m looking forward to continuing to improve it and make it hospitality friendly!
